Tom Evans, M.D. is the President and CEO of the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC). Dr. Evans received both BA and MA degrees from Drake University. He received his MD degree from the University of Iowa in 1983 and completed his Family Medicine residency at Broadlawns Medical Center in 1986. He practiced family medicine for 13 years, and served as Chief Medical Officer for the Iowa Health System from 1999 to 2005. He has served as President of both the Iowa Medical Society and the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. He has also served on the board for the National Patient Safety Foundation, and on the delegations for both the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Evans currently serves as a faculty member with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Des Moines University, and the University of Iowa College of Public Health.

Lance Roberts, PhD

Lance Roberts is primarily responsible for collaborating with state healthcare stakeholders and national quality/safety measurement and reporting organizations in order to promote and carry out responsible public reporting efforts in Iowa. These efforts culminate in the release of hospital performance information in the Iowa Report. He also utilizes statistical and health services research tools to produce actionable knowledge for use in various continuous improvement, policy, and research activities. His educational background is in technology and health services research sciences. His 14 years of manufacturing experience included implementation of TPS/Lean methods and philosophies. His healthcare experience included hospital implementation of Six Sigma/Lean/Computer Simulation improvement strategies, teaching undergraduate statistics, grant-related projects, and published health services research work.
Meg Nugent, RN, MHA

Meg oversees IHC clinical initiatives including; HAI, patient safety, cardiovascular and stroke. Meg graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Iowa. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Meg has extensive clinical experience in the areas of critical care and cardiovascular nursing. In addition to her clinical knowledge, Meg has also worked in hospital, clinic and corporate management. Management responsibilities have included quality, risk management, infection prevention, service excellence, guest relations, case management, cardiovascular services (invasive and non-invasive) and medical staff office.

Ryan develops the IHC Synergy newsletter, works on website administration and other IHC communications. Ryan will assist in development and execution of IHC's statewide readmissions strategy. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication at the University of Northern Iowa. He completed his Master's in Healthcare Administration at Des Moines University.
