Description

The Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Initiative builds on the work of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's 100,000 Lives Campaign and 5 Million Lives Campaign.  It focuses on those infections acquired by patients while receiving treatment in a healthcare setting.  The implementation of evidence-based practices and safety measures such as standardizing core processes, redesigning systems of care, partnering with patients and families, and creating safety cultures that maximize communication and teamwork can reduce HAIs Iowa.

Current topics addressed in the HAI Initiative include:

  • Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections
  • Methcillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection
  • Clostridium difficile
  • Immunization of Healthcare Workers
  • Central Line Infections
  • Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia
