Description of the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative
The Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC) is a provider-led organization designed to promote rapid cycle clinical performance improvement.
Our vision is an Iowa healthcare culture of continuous improvement in quality, safety, and value that eliminates avoidable suffering, injury, illness and death.
IHC originated through a 2004 partnership of the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) and the Iowa Medical Society (IMS). Using a "multi-stakeholder" approach, it now aggregates expertise through Board make-up and collaborative relationships among providers. IHC strives to be non-competitive in approach, supportive and complementary to other national quality and patient safety initiatives, and representative of the patient voice through all initiatives. Through communication and collaboration, IHC promotes the sharing of data and best practice to improve care. IHC has a unique role, serving as an objective, inclusive focal point for healthcare improvement.
The cornerstones of the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative strategy are to:
- Align and Equip Iowa Hospitals and Physicians
- Promote Responsible Public Reporting
- Engage the Community for Clinical Improvement
- Raise the Standard of Care in Iowa
IHC is proud to receive the support of many organizations in Iowa dedicated to improving the health status of Iowans.
