KNOW IT. SHOW IT. TELL IT.
A state-wide campaign to provide MedCards to all Iowans and improve health literacy by promoting communication between patients and healthcare providers regarding appropriate medication use.
Through funding from The Wellmark Foundation, the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative, Iowa Foundation for Medical Care, Iowa Hospital Association, Iowa Medical Society, and the Iowa Pharmacy Association have partnered to help improve Iowans' health literacy by promoting the use of MedCards and educating patients and healthcare providers to use MedCards during every interaction to discuss appropriate medication use.
For Healthcare Provider and Business Partners
Thank you for partnering in the statewide 'Know It. Show It. Tell It.' campaign. As a healthcare provider or business partner, you recognize the importance of keeping the initiative ongoing and continuing to supply MedCards to Iowans. Below you will find links to printable MedCard supplies and ordering information for plastic sleeves.
(MedCards in the starter kit came in an envelope with an instructional guide and the MedCard/plastic sleeve contained within the envelope. When supplying additional MedCards, you may choose to not use envelopes or the instructional guides. At a minimum, the MedCards should be supplied to patients in a plastic sleeve.)

For Patients
A MedCard is a list of medications, directions and other health information which you keep updated. It is important to show your MedCard each time you visit a healthcare provider (including your doctors, nurses, pharmacist, and dentist) and to keep the list up to date. Always use your MedCard to discuss and share information about your medications with all of your healthcare providers. Below you will find links to a printable MedCard and a "how to" Instructional Guide. Plastic sleeves are also available to protect your MedCard and may be used to keep other important documents such as your insurance cards and Medicare card all in one place.
