The Compass Practice Transformation Network (PTN) is committed to align and equip clinicians and organizations for practice transformation in order to achieve the triple aim of improving the quality of healthcare, improving the health of populations, and lowering healthcare costs. Key to successful practice transformation is the ability to engage and empower patients as partners in their care.
Health coaching, either as a formal role, or an approach within team-based care, is a new and different skillset, and a foundational component in value-based healthcare. As a communication strategy, it enables the team to better engage patients and families in their care. Successful health coaching requires formal training, as this skillset has not (yet) been included in most education curriculum to prepare our workforce for the future healthcare environment.
Health Coach Training
Compass is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium to offer their online Clinical Health Coach Training at no cost to our enrolled organizations who are fully engaged with the PTN. The training is valued at $1200 per participant. CEUs and CMEs are awarded for successful completion of the program. A competency evaluation is offered at the completion of the program giving participants the opportunity to earn a certificate of competency in clinical health coaching. Compass enrollment for Clinical Health Coach Training Online is currently closed. We hope to be able to offer this opportunity again in 2018. Organizations enrolled in Compass will be notified when health coach training again becomes available.
